Postdoctoral fellowship in Mathematics

University faculty : Sciences
Department : Mathematics - naXys research institute
Grade : researcher
Contract : fixed term contract
Category : scientific personnel

Responsabilities

The research work will be carried out in the naXys research institute (https://www.naxys.be) of the University of Namur (Belgium). It will fall within the research activity of the institute on infinite-dimensional control systems and operator-theoretic methods. In particular, the research project will develop a theoretical framework that supports the infinite-dimensional Koopman operator approach to nonlinear control theory. It will provide a comprehensive methodology based on approximation theory to validate current prediction and control methods (convergence analysis), assess their performance (error approximation), and guide further development in Koopman operator theory.

Profile

The candidate must hold a PhD degree in Mathematics or Control Engineering (or equivalent). He/she is expected to have a solid background in (applied) Mathematics, with a keen interest in learning theoretical concepts but also in developing practical methodologies for applications. Specific knowledge of functional analysis, approximation theory, and/or nonlinear control theory will be appreciated. Past research work in Koopman operator theory will be considered as a plus.

To be eligible, the candidate must have a PhD degree for 10 years maximum at the beginning of the postdoctoral fellowship and must not have resided or carried out his/her main activity (job, studies...) in Belgium for more than 24 months during the last 3 years.
