One Post-Doc researcher position available in the LARN: Plasmonic Structures produced by PVD

University faculty : Sciences
Department : Physics, LARN Laboratory.
Grade : researcher
Contract : fixed term contract
Allocation : External funds

In relation with a research line dealing with Innovative plasmonic structures deposited by low pressure plasma, and numerical optimization of their optical responses, we are looking for a Post-doc researcher. This research aims to get a deeper understanding on how plasmonic can be mastered to control optical properties of coatings for various applications in energy conversion and photonics. We will explore and control the optical properties of novel hybrid nanoparticle-loaded dielectrics nanostructures. These structures will exploit the coupling of nanoparticles of different natures, shape and structure organized in multilayer dielectric stacks. Understanding and subsequent optimization of the nanostructures will be performed by FDTD numerical methods. Their realization will be carried out by physical vapor deposition (PVD) through gas phase nanoparticle synthesis.

The ideal candidate:

• Has a PhD degree in Physics or Material science or Chemistry;

• Has a track record in experimental PVD and material analysis techniques (SEM, TEM, XPS, Ellipsometry, …);

• Has experience in numerical simulations of coating optical response (FDTD for example);

• Has knowledge of HIPIMS deposition;

• Has demonstrated capabilities for working in a team: the candidate will work together with several researchers already involved in that research topic;

• Is proficient in English;

• Has some knowledge in French.

Job position:

For this 2-year contract, the candidate must fulfil the following European mobility rules:

• The candidate must be in situation of transnational mobility (having spent less than 12 months in Belgium during the last three years);

• The candidate must not change during the project.

Starting date: No later than January 2022.

For to apply: Send a CV, motivation letter and 3 reference letters no later than September 15th 2021 to stephane.lucas@unamur.be.
