Department : Department of Physics - LARN
Grade : researcher
Contract : fixed term contract

Responsabilities

The Laboratory of Analysis by Nuclear Reactions (LARN) of the University of Namur is one of the partners in the European project INSPIRE. The research activity carried out by UNamur consists in the study of a mouse model irradiated by protontherapy concomitantly with the use of radiosensitizers. The radiosensitizers (gold and titanium nanoparticles) will be developed in house by plasma vapour deposition or wet chemistry.

The hired person will:

  • Maintain cell lines in culture;
  • Produce radiosensitizers by plasma vapour deposition or wet chemistry and vectorise those nanoobjects with specific antibodies using an in-house protocol;
  • Evaluate the in vitro response of pancreatic cell lines to proton radiation, with or without prior incubation with gold and titanium nanoparticles;
  • Grow orthotopic tumors or xenografts in mice and develop injection protocols;
  • Evaluate the in vivo response of tumors to protontherapy in combination with radiosensitizers.

Profile

  • Holder of a PhD degree in either pharmacy, biology, chemistry or physics.
  • The Short term Postdoctoral Fellowship (CTP) is applicable for a maximal duration of 3 years.
  • The Short term Postdoctoral fellow’s stay should not exceed the duration of the research agreement.
  • The CTP should be in an “international mobility situation” and should not have resided or carried out his/her main activity (job, studies...) in Belgium for more than 24 months during the 3 last years directly before the first stay as Postdoctoral fellow.
  • The candidate should have obtained his Phd degree since less than 6 years ago.
